Crusaders shoot Lowest Score in Day 2 of Schreiner Shootout; Wade's Personal Best ties him for 2nd

KERRVILLE, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team improved on day two of the Schreiner Shootout at Comanche Trace by shooting the lowest score of all six teams. Its 292 in the round improved the team to fourth place. The Crusaders began in sixth place after a round of 18 holes yesterday, but would score a 604 to best Trinity University (607) and Evangel University (622).

Five teams from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) competed in this tournament. 2017 champions Southwestern University prevailed with a 590 overall after shooting a 293 and 297. Host Schreiner University dropped to second after a 308 followed the best performance on either day with a 289. The Mountaineers accumulated a 597, while Texas Lutheran University rounded out the top three with a 599. The Bulldogs were only one stroke off with a 299 and 300 over the two days.

Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) tied for second with TLU's Colin Uecker with a personal-best 143. He was one stroke shy of matching a personal low-round score with a 70. After Wade led the Crusaders on the first round with a 73, he improved his score to shoot -1 par.

His previous best two-round performance was this past fall at the UMHB Fall Invitational where his 69 matched a school Low Round Record at the time and helped etch a 146.

Two other UD players decreased their numbers, as Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) and Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) hit a 72 and 73, respectively. Montalvo finished tied 12th with a 152 and was the second best score for the Crusaders. Evans bounced back on the second round to finish with a 157.

Evans also achieved a rare albatross on hole 13 on Tuesday.

Will Doctor (Houston, Texas) was consistent with another 77 to garner a 154 with three other golfers in a tie for 17th.

Schreiner's Jake Bell won the tournament with a 141, as he scored a 69 on day one and 72 on day two. Southwestern's Devon Horne, who had been tied with Uecker coming into the day, would shoot a 74 and finish one stroke back of the second place finishers with a 144.
