Evans Record-Breaking Day Earns him Alamo City Classic Title; Men's Golf claims 2nd

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) dominated the links on Tuesday, as the freshman shattered two University of Dallas men's golf individual tournament records and won the Alamo City Classic. Evans shot lowest round of the tournament with a 65 and broke the program's mark by four strokes. Overall he notched another school record for lowest two rounds with a 140, and earned his first personal individual victory. Evans was tied for sixth after leading Dallas with a 75 in the first round of 18 holes Monday.

The Crusaders as a team rallied back from sixth place and were one stroke behind tournament champions, Hardin-Simmons University. Dallas compiled a 289 – a stroke shy of matching a team low round score - on the second round to finish with a 601 performance. It was the best score from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) schools competing. Host Trinity University and Texas Lutheran University rounded out the top three with 608. Schreiner University was sixth with a 613.

Another strong contributor to UD's comeback was Will Doctor (Houston, Texas), who mustered a 71 that tied a personal-low from the second round of the John Bohmann Invitational. Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas) improved two strokes from Monday with a 75 and tied 11th in the individual rankings. He was the second lowest score on the squad with a 152 and also hit the only eagle in the two-day competition.

Evans led the field with 11 birdies, which helped him finish two below par in the victory.

Taking second behind the individual champion was Will Hocker from Webster University, as he shot one above par with a 143 (73,70). Luke Smith from Hardin-Simmons completed the top trio of individual scores with a 145 (74, 71).
