Schuberg ties Career Low Round on Tuesday to lead Dallas individually; Men's Golf takes 4th at Al Jones Memorial

TYLER, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team completed the Al Jones Memorial on Tuesday with an overall score of 930 for fourth place out of six teams. The Crusaders scored the best total for a round in the finale with a 302, which improved five strokes from their second round yesterday. Still, UD could not gain any ground and remained 10 shots behind the next spot ahead. Dallas did finish ahead of Louisiana College (973) and Howard Payne University (990).

University of Texas at Tyler maintained its lead from Monday and matched a tournament low round of 297 to finish with a 906. After the host school was California Lutheran, who moved up a spot to second after shooting 300 and tallied a 918 overall. Fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) school Schreiner University rounded out the top three places with a 920.

Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Texas) surged ahead to finish with a team-low score of 227 after tying a personal-best 70 in the third round. Both competitions this fall the junior has etched his personal-best low round score in the third frame. He tied seventh in the standings overall as he shot 11 above par.  

Following Schuberg in the standings were Will Doctor (Houston, Texas) and Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) with respective scores of 233 and 235. The duo each recorded low rounds in the second set of 18 holes Monday with 75 apiece.

Other notables included: Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) posting a career-low 73, Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) made his season debut, and Robert Bross (Wentzville, Mo.) participated as an individual for his first collegiate tournament.

UT-Tyler's Hayden Montoya won the tournament with a 215 (75, 72, 68). A pair of individuals followed with the next two spots as Ethan Bozner from Tyler Junior College and Harris Butler from UT-Tyler notched a 218 (75, 76, 67, and 220 (72, 76, 72), respectively. Butler's 67 was the lowest amount of shots in any round from the field of golfers.

Dallas returns to the links on October 2nd-3rd in the UMHB Crusader Collegiate held at Stonetree Golf Club. Later that weekend on the 7th and 8th Dallas will host Hendrix College in a pair of dual matches.
