Late Push Gives Schreiner the Win

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost their conference matchup with Schreiner University 87-79 Saturday evening.  They fall to 7-15 on the year and 5-9 in conference play.

It took a few minutes for Dallas to get going, with four minutes passing before they scored their first field goal, but they quickly established themselves thereafter and were looking the better team in a tight game.  Jai Love was in inspired form in the first half, leading all players with 16 points while going 4-5 from beyond the arc; he had nearly as many three-pointers as the entire Schreiner roster to that point.  It was on the back of yet another solid team shooting performance that Crusaders felt like the team to beat, leading by as many as nine points in the first half.  Schreiner did well to keep things close, as the Crusaders took a nine-point lead into the break.

For much of the second half, the Crusaders clung to their lead.  Deep into the game, it looked very much like it was the Crusaders' game to lose.  But a pair of big transition dunks by the Mountaineers seemed to turn the tide as Schreiner slowly, but surely took hold of the game.  The Mountaineers took the lead with just under three minutes to play and never relinquished it.  Though it was still anyone's game, the game simply slipped away as Schreiner claimed victory.

Jack Boyle led the team with a season-high 25 points going 10-15 from the field, grabbing 12 rebounds along the way for another solid double-double performance.  Love was right behind with 22 points and led the team with six assists.
