Blue Jays Surge Past Crusaders with Big Second Half

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost their non-conference matchup with Westminster College 81-68 this afternoon.

It was anyone's game for much of the first half, with neither team able to hold the lead for an extended period of time.  The largest lead for the first 11 minutes of the games was just three points, until Westminster took a five point lead with 8:42 left in the half.  The Crusaders hit the burners after that, outscoring the Blue Jays 20-9 in the final eight minutes to take a 35-29 lead into the half.

That lead quickly evaporated, as the Blue Jays scored 10 unanswered points in the first three minutes to take the lead.  The Crusaders were left chasing for the remainder of the game, as they had no answers for the Blue Jays on either side of the ball.  Westminster led by as many as 18 in the second half, though Dallas was able to pull themselves back to within six at one point.  But their 31% shooting in the second half (14% from three) would be their doom, as Westminster closed out the win.

Cameran Hyde led Dallas in scoring with 19 points and shared the team lead with eight rebounds.  Jai Love had 11 points and was selected for the All-Tournament Team, and Jack Boyle added 13 points off the bench.
