Mathis, Love, and Wamsganss Named to All-Conference List

KERRVILLE, Texas – In exclusive voting by head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the All-SCAC Awards and Teams were released on Saturday night following the two semifinal contests. The University of Dallas men's basketball team had a trio of players selected as Michael Wambsganss (Denver, Colo.), Dustin Mathis (Fort Worth, Texas), and Jai Love (St. Louis, Mo.) were all selected as Honorable Mention recipients.

Coaches voted for 15 places for All-SCAC with 15 points awarded for first-place votes, 14 points for second-place votes, 13 points for third-place votes, etc., down to one point for a 15th-place vote. All players not elected to the First, Second or Third Team, but who received at least one vote, were named Honorable Mention. Coaches could not vote for their own players.

Wambsganss headlined the trio with his third-consecutive All-Conference accolade. Wambsganss was named to the SCAC 2nd Team in the 2018-19 season and was also selected to the Honorable Mention list for the 2017-18 season. Wamsganss paced Dallas with 13.4 points-per-game in 17 games of action. Wambsganss also had the second-most field goals made (76) on the team as well as the best free throw percentage (88%) for UD. Wambsganss also notched 82 rebounds, 30 steals, and six blocks for the Crusaders.

Mathis received his second All-Conference accolade for his career after he also was named to the Honorable Mention list a season ago. Mathis totaled a team-high 845 minutes and 322 points playing in all 25 games for Dallas. Mathis made 110 of his 261 field goal attempts (42%). Mathis also shot 39% from three-point range after he averaged 2.5 made-per-game. Mathis dished out 86 assists to lead the team.

Love received his first All-Conference award of his career. Love played in 18 games for the Crusaders and led the team with 4.5 assists-per-game (4th SCAC). Love totaled the second-most points (230) and averaged 12.8 per contest. Love made it to the free throw line the most on the team with 124 attempts and made 94. Love also totaled 16 steals playing 538 minutes.
