FIRST TIP

The University of Dallas men's basketball team is set for a conference weekend road trip to south Texas to take on Trinity University and Schreiner University. UD will first take on the Tigers in San Antonio on Friday at 5:30 p.m. UD will then travel to Kerrville to face the Mountaineers on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. UD is coming off a 2-0 weekend after defeating both Johnson & Wales University (CO) and Colorado College in Irving.


UD NOTES

- UD has the best scoring defense in the league containing its opponents to 69.5 points-per-game. Dallas is also holding teams to a .276 percentage from behind the arc.

- On the offensive side of the ball, the Crusaders average the third-most three pointers made per contest (8.9).

- Michael Wambsganss (Denver, Colo.) leads UD with 2.9 three pointers-per-game, which ranks second among Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) players.

- Dustin Mathis (Fort Worth, Texas) was named (USCAA) Division I Player of the Week after averaging 20 points in two games, with a pair of 20-point performances in the 2-0 week for the Crusaders. 

- Cameran Hyde (Missouri City, Texas) and Wambsganns both had the highest scoring totals for UD in the wins over Trinity and Schreiner earlier this season with 23 and 21 points, respectively.


(Opponent Notes)

- Trinity has lost three-straight games after falling to University of St. Thomas (TX) and Centenary College in its last two outings last weekend.

- David Nickell leads his team and ranks fifth in the conference with a 51.9 field goal percentage in 18 games played.

- Luke Stuart has a 45.7 three-point percentage playing in all 19 games for the Tigers. This mark is the third-best in the

- Jordan Lippman, Ben Hanley, and Stephen Molina each recorded double-figures in the previous matchup against Dallas.

- Trinity plays well on its home court (6-3) as opposed to on the road (1-8).

- Schreiner has also lost three-straight matchups. The Mountaineers lost to Centenary 66-63 and University of St. Thomas 92-82 last weekend.  

- Matthew Rindahl averages 9.0 rebounds-per-game, which is the third-best mark in the SCAC.

- Three Mountaineers reached double-digit points in the close loss to UD earlier this season. This trio was led by Rindahl who finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

- Alex Dehoyos spreads the ball around quite often, as he averages 4.7 a game. Dehoyos is tied with Jai Love (St. Louis, MO.) for the second-best mark in the conference.

- SU also plays better in home matchups (5-4) than in away games (1-8).

ROAD AHEAD

Dallas will play its final two home games of the season next weekend. UD will host Texas Lutheran University on Friday (Feb. 14) at 5:30 p.m. The next day UD will take on Southwestern University will first tip scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The Crusaders will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday before the game.
