Celts Race Past Men's Basketball on Wednesday

HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Dallas men's basketball team dropped an 108-60 decision on Wednesday night at University of St. Thomas. After leading by 13 at halftime, the Celts rolled 68-33 in the second half en route to the non-conference victory. St. Thomas (7-2) shot 62.7 percent (37-59) from the field and were 13-of-30 (43.3%) from three-point territory. The home team also went 21-for-30 (70%) at the free throw line and dished 27 assists on the high scoring night.

The Crusaders (1-6), who dropped their fourth straight, were led by Michael Wambsganss (Denver, Colo.) with eight points, as he drained two of the team's four trifectas. Dustin Mathis (Fort Worth, Texas) notched one for his onlypoints, while Uniikye Washington (Arlington, Texas) hit the other to contribute to his five points. He also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

Cameran Hyde (Missouri City, Texas) tossed in six points from the bench. Teammates Letrell Toussaint (Waco, Texas) and Ian Burns (Woodbury, Minn.) added five points apiece. Maurice Compton (San Antonio, Texas) picked up half of the team's four steals.

The Crusaders were edged on the glass 41-36.

St. Thomas was led by Paris Marquez with 18 points, as he went 6-for-8 on the floor and 4-of-6 in three-pointers. Five different players surpassed double-digits with Paul Taulton (13), Orowo Eleyae (12), Nathan Thormaehlen (11), and Freddie Ricks (11) reaching the mark.

Marquez also led the team with seven boards followed by Thormaehlen with six. Kennard Robinson picked up six dimes.

Dallas turns its focus to finals and are off until December 18, which signals the start of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play at Centenary College. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
