Levi Among Top 100 on 2017-18 Bevo Francis Award

Small College Basketball released the Top 100 Watchlist for the 2017-18 Bevo Francis Award on Monday. The student-athletes on the watchlist are comprised of the best players from Division II, Division III, the NAIA, USCAA, and NCCAA.

Spencer Levi (St. Louis, Mo.) from the University of Dallas men's basketball team was among those listed. The freshman forward has put together quite the season thus far. In 15 games, Levi leads the Crusaders in scoring average (19.3), rebounding average (11.1), total blocks (45).

Levi ranks among the top 50 in the country in several different categories, headlined by his field goal percentage which was 4th at a 71.8-clip entering the week. In addition, Levi has recorded nine double-doubles and garnered attention in several different facets of the game. Levi has posted a career-high 33 points, set the individual blocks record in a single game with nine, and was two rebounds shy of matching the program's individual game mark.

Levi is listed in the top-5 for scoring average, rebounds-per-game, and field goal percentage in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). Levi has received weekly honors twice in both leagues, and also was placed on d3hoops.com Team of the Week in early December.

The award was created in 2015 and is named after Clarence "Bevo" Francis. Francis played two seasons at what is now the University of Rio Grande. In his first season, he led the team to a 39-0 record averaging 50.1 points per game, highlighted by a 116-point performance against Ashland College in Kentucky.
