FIRST TIP
Both the University of Dallas basketball teams head up the highway to Farmers Branch on Wednesday evening. The Crusaders will take on Dallas Christian College with the women's team going at 5:30 p.m. The men's team will play the host Crusaders afterwards.
The women's basketball team (5-1) is off to its best start since winning six of its first seven in 2013-14. The Crusaders have won five in a row season falling in the season opener and are coming off its largest victory of the season, 83-23, versus Southwestern Adventist University.
The men's team (2-4) snapped a four-game slide by topping Southwestern Adventist at the Maher Center last Thursday, 103-60.
UD NOTABLES
(Women's Basketball)
- Dallas is currently sits second in the SCAC standings behind an undefeated Trinity University (7-0).
- The Crusaders improved to first in the conference for scoring defense with a 49.7-clip on ppg allowed. This same number ranks UD 28th in NCAA Division III.
- Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) is coming off her third straight double-double appearance and leads the squad in scoring (92 pts.) and scoring average (15.3). She ranks second in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and fourth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) in three-point field goal percentage (47.1)
- Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) is one point behind the team leader and is averaging 15.2 points-per-game. DeCoud has eclipsed double figures in scoring every contest.
- DeCoud is also owning the boards with a league and team best 11.2 average. That same stat ranks her third in the USCAA and 44th in NCAA DIII. She remains atop the SCAC leaderboard with 14 blocks. That same number ties for 35th nationally.
- Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) continues her nice passing game with seven more assists to give her 24 in the last three games. Additionally to that trio, the senior guard remains first in the SCAC with 31 overall.
(Men's Basketball)
- Prince Giadolor (Rockwall, Texas) earned SCAC Player of the Week. He scored a career-high 24 points and shot 90 percent (9-10) in the most recent outing. The sophomore also posted team-highs in rebounds (8), assists (6), and steals (4) that contest.
- Giadolor's big performance lifted him to a team-high 73 points (12.2 ppg). He also leads the squad in assists (26), which breaks top three in conference.
- Darrius Colvin (Waco, Texas) and Michael Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas) are tied with 67 points (11.2). Colvin remains the team leader in rebounds (41)
- Tom Kaiser (Nashville, Tenn.) is first in SCAC and second in USCAA with a 67.6 field goal shooting percent.
- Dallas is third in the SCAC for scoring offense (76.3) and scoring defense (79.2). The Crusaders are shooting a league best 76.2 percent from the field. The rebounding margin ranks third with a +1.5-clip.
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT
Dallas Christian is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The women's team will host Paul Quinn on Tuesday night, while the men's dropped a road tilt at DII Rogers State University last Thursday, 106-75. Josh Walls (22), Keldon Williams (19), and Daytin Howard (16) combined for 57 points, but its opponent shot 56.3 percent and made 13 treys. Seven players scored double-digits too.
The UD women's team holds a 28-2 record all-time and has won the last 20 meetings dating back to 2005-06 season. Last year, the Crusaders claimed both wins and won 74-48 on the road. Dallas scored 22 points apiece in the first two quarters en route to a 44-22 edge at half. Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.) had a game-high 14 points while DeCoud and Stoia both chipped in 11. Tonry dished seven assists. DCC returns three players that played in that contest.
On the men's side, Dallas owns a 12-5 record in the all-time series. Prior to last season, the Crusaders had not played the opposing Crusaders since 2009-10. At the Maher Center in 2015-16, Dallas posted an 88-79 victory. A 19-point first half difference (50-31) propelled the Navy and White ahead for good as Giadolor led the team with 16 points. Sarrat added 12 and Kaiser nearly landed a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Seven players from DCC are listed back on the roster. This includes Trey Lindsay who poured 24 in Irving's matchup.

Both basketball teams for Dallas begin conference play on December 16 at Colorado College. The women's team tips at 5:30 p.m. MST (6:30 p.m. CST). The men's team will play after.
