Men's Basketball remains Undefeated after Friday's win

SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's basketball team (3-0) improved on its undefeated campaign in a 71-56 win versus Howard Payne University (0-1) on Friday night. Dallas boasted a 44-point display in the first half to help result in its largest margin of victory on the young season.

It was a competitive matchup throughout most of the beginning stanza, but after HPU tallied Khyce Randall layup with 5:59 remaining, the Crusaders romped the final portion going into intermission with a sizable edge. The streak during this run was 18-3, and the Yellow Jackets' lone basket was a trifecta with 1:30 minutes to go by Blake Arbogast.

Sophomore Michael Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas) tallied all 16 points in the first frame, and notched a 6-for-8 showing from beyond the three-point arc. The navy and white fired an impressive 68 shooting percentage in the half.

A trio of players claimed double figures for the Crusaders, with senior Aaron Wyatt (Frisco, Texas)  joining Sarrat with 16 points. The forward has now recorded double-digits in scoring each contest, with his total surpassing last week's pair of affairs in California where he reflected 15.

Sophomore Tom Kaiser (Nashville, Tenn.) managed to round out the double-digit scoring unit with 14, one shy of a season-high, and tied Wyatt with a team-best seven rebounds.

UD was outdone on the boards 38-36, but did dish out 19 assists. Senior Kym Malone (Richardson, Texas) and sophomore Lorenzo Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) combined for 13 overall with the point guard duo racking seven and six, respectively.

Senior Blaine Blackburn (Midlothian, Texas) added nine points and Gonzalez posted eight for a season-high.

Howard Payne had two players in double figures, with Ty Davis leading the way with 13 and Curtis Gile amassing 12. Giles also nabbed a game-high eight boards.
