Dallas Men Use Balanced Effort to Climb to .500

The University of Dallas men's basketball team continued their hot shooting today, as they beat La Sierra University 79-58 in the first game of the Independents Round Robin Tournament at Riverside, CA. For the second game in a row the Crusaders came out hot in the first half, jumping to an early lead and rolling the rest of the way. They went into halftime with a comfortable 47-29 lead, shooting 18 of 34 from the field and 5 of 9 from behind the arc. Resting most of their starters in the second half, Dallas still managed to outscore La Sierra 32-29.

Tonight, UD played a very balanced game offensively. Five players scored in the double digits, and 11 out of the 13 players who saw playing time managed to score.  Senior guard Paul Streett (Novato, CA/Trinity Prep) went 3-4 on three pointers, scoring 11 points in only 19 minutes of play. Fellow seniors Peter Popovich (St. Louis, MO/Gateway Academy) and Travis Ekmark (Yokosuka, Japan/Nile C. Kinnick H.S.) led the team in points with 12 a piece. Jeff Pritchard (Oak Grove, LA/Frisco H.S.) and Barrett Brown (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe H.S.) were also in the double digits, as they scored 10 points each. Ekmark also led the team in rebounds (6), and assists (4).

Tomorrow UD looks to carry over the high level of play when the nationally ranked Chapman University.
