Association of Division III Independents Names All-Independent Men’s Basketball Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO – Chapman University's Justin Riley, who led the Panthers in scoring, rebounds and blocks, headlines the 2010 All-Independent Men's Basketball teams announced today by the Association of Division III Independents.

Riley, a junior forward from San Dimas, CA, averaged 15 points and nine rebounds per game.    He led the team with 10 double-doubles, and he shot 64 percent from the floor.

Joining Riley on the first team are Tyler Gordon, Finlandia University; Ryan Matsuoka, University of California, Santa Cruz; Jim Norton, University of Dallas; and Kyle Wood, Chapman University.

Chapman head coach Mike Bokosky, who led the Panthers to a 24-3 record, was selected as the coach of the year for the second consecutive year.

Chapman advanced to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship before losing in the second round to Whitworth.  Bokosky has guided Chapman to 17 consecutive winning seasons, including a current streak of 20 or more victories for the past five seasons.

The coaches selected co-rookies of the year – Darrin Lew from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and University of Maine-Presque Isle forward Patrick Manifold.  Lew, a junior college transfer, averaged nearly 10 points and 2.6 assists per game for the Slugs.  Manifold, a freshman forward from England, averaged 13.2 points and 7.6 rebounds for UMPI.  He also recorded seven double-doubles on the season.

The All-Independent Men's Basketball teams were selected by the men's basketball coaches from AD3I member schools.
