UD Mens Basketball Edged in Barnburner
The Dallas men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker with less
than a second left on the clock to Southwestern University Sunday
evening as the potential game tying layup rimmed out as time
expired. The lead switched three times in the last five
minutes of the game after a strong comeback by UD which trailed
26-18 at the half.
Senior point guard Jeff Pritchard (Oak Grove, LA/Frisco H.S.) led
the team in scoring with 17 points in 27 minutes of action while
dishing out 2 assists, recording a steal, and hauling down 6
rebounds, and senior forward Peter Popovich (St. Louis, MO/Gateway
Academy) tagged on 11 more to account for over half the teams'
offense. On the defensive side of the court, senior
forward Travis Ekmark (Yokosuka, Japan/Nile C. Kinnick H.S.) hauled
in 7 rebounds while blocking one shot.
Despite the unlucky start, the Crusaders will have an opportunity
to even up against Schreiner University at 7:00pm on Tuesday,
November 17 at home.
