Crusaders Cruise Past Warhawks

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball team won their non-conference game against McMurry University on Tuesday, improving to 7-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first, the Crusaders were the first to strike with three runs in the second inning.  With two outs and two runners on, Mike Andersen and Fernando Davila came up with a pair of base knocks to take a 3-0 lead.

McMurry answered back, scraping across two runs in the third then took advantage of a two-out error in the fourth, plating two runs on a homer and one more on an RBI single to take a 5-3 lead.

Dallas responded immediately, playing some small ball and taking advantage of a throwing error to score three runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 6-5 and take the lead for good.

The Crusaders added runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth to take a comfortable 13-5 lead.  The Warhawks scored a consolation run in the ninth, but they couldn't muster anything else as Dallas saw out the win.

Four different Crusaders had two RBI in the game, and four also had multi-hit games.  

Landon Phillips picks up his first win of the season after throwing 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The Crusaders will host a three-game series with Randall University, starting with a single game on Friday, March 1.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
