Montenegro Shines, Tigers Pull Away Late to Complete Sweep

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball team lost their conference matchup against Trinity University on Saturday.  They fall to 14-15 overall on the year and 5-7 in conference play.

Dallas 0, Trinity 10

WP: Jackson Teer (6-1)

LP: Adrian Montenegro (0-4)

It was all Trinity in the series finale, but for much of the game they couldn't touch Adrian Montenegro.

After a short burst for two runs on three hits by the Tigers in the second inning, Montenegro mowed down the Tigers for five innings.  He could have gotten through to the ninth having allowed just two runs, but two-out errors in the seventh and eighth ultimately led to four unearned runs blemishing what was an otherwise stellar outing by the sophomore lefty.

Montenegro left the game with 7.2 innings of work, allowing just two earned runs while setting a new career best with 12 strikeouts, having never before reached double-digit K's in a game.

The wheels came off with the move to the bullpen, as three pitchers combined for three walks, four hits, one hit batter, and four runs in 1.1 innings.  Dallas was completely silenced at the plate, as Trinity won comfortably to secure the sweep.
