Baseball Drops Series Finale in Walk-Off Loss

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas baseball team lost their conference game against Centenary College on Sunday.  The Gents take the series 2-1, as the Crusaders fall to 11-11 on the year and 2-4 in conference play.

The Gents took a 1-0 lead in the first, scoring on an error by UD.  The Crusaders responded in the second inning, tying the game at 1-1 with a two-out RBI single by Peyton Garbett.   

Once again, Dallas came through with two outs to take a 2-1 lead in the fifth on an RBI single by Brett CastilloJake Amoroso was able to score on the play thanks to a sac bunt by Tyler Darnell; he leads the team with six sacrifice hits on the season.

After blanking the Gents for six innings, they were finally able to break through in the eighth.  Taking advantage of another error by UD that put a runner on second with no outs, a one-out single brought home the tying run.

Dallas was 90 feet away from taking the lead in the top of the ninth with runners on first and third and two outs, but couldn't come up with another timely hit.  Instead, a walk, a knock, and an RBI double with one out brought home the winning run to give the Gents the walk-off win and the series.

Caleb Hohman was the opener on the mound for Dallas, allowing one hit across two innings.  Dominic Gill came in strung together five shutout innings of relief, striking out two batters and allowing just four hits.
