Crusaders Downed by Tigers on the Road

MARSHALL, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball team lost their non-conference matchup with East Texas Baptist 15-2 Tuesday evening.  They fall to 2-5 on the year, with seven games left on their preseason schedule.

Dallas 2, ETBU 15

WP: Braden Kames (1-0)

LP: Adrian Montenegro (1-2)

After a scoreless top of the first, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the bottom half, scoring three runs on two hits and an error.  David Saldana put the Crusaders on the board in the third, leading off the inning with a solo home run, but ETBU got the run back with a sac fly in the bottom half of the inning.  The Tigers padded their lead with two big innings, plating five runs in the fourth and four runs in the sixth to take a commanding 13-1 lead.

The Crusaders managed to get some runners on base over the next few innings, but had difficulty stringing hits together to cut into the deficit.  Jon Talley would bring in the only other run of the game for the Crusaders with a solo shot in the top of the ninth, his third home run of the year.

It ended up being a bullpen day for Dallas, who threw six different pitchers in the game.  Cortez Saenz was the only Crusader pitcher to keep the Tigers from scoring, and Graeme Williams struck out five batter in two innings of work.
