2021 UD Top Performance: Baseball Scores most Runs in SCAC Game

IRVING, Texas – We are taking a look back at top performances and moments from the spring of 2021. It was a unique semester in which the University of Dallas had 15 NCAA sponsored sports competing.

The University of Dallas baseball team posted 17 runs on 18 hits to win the series finale versus Southwestern University. The run total set an all-time high in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) games since UD joined the league in 2012. The previous mark had been 15 runs, which the Crusaders reached that scoring output at Austin College (15-0, Feb. 19, 2012) and against Schreiner University (15-0, Apr. 12, 2014).

Zachary Taylor went a perfect 4-for-4, reaching base safely all six times. He posted two runs-batted-in and runs scored and added one of the team's four doubles. Nathan Patton (3-5) produced one of the two three-hit games, needing just a home run to complete the cycle. Grady Birmingham (3-4) was the other and joined Patton and Casey White to form a trio that scored three times. UD took advantage of eight walks and totaled 15 RBI. The team loaded the bases five times, with four coming through the first five frames. The team had sent 37 batters up through the fifth and batted around with 10 batters twice.
