ABILENE, Texas - The University of Dallas Crusaders swept their final non-conference series of the season in two games against Hardin-Simmons University.  Dallas won game one due in large part to the bat of Andrew Womack (Vienna, Va.) who hit a game tying two run home run in the fourth inning.  UD eventually won 4-3  In game two, UD's offense came to life taking a 9-0 lead final inning before giving their only run of the game to take the game 9-1.

Dallas got on the board first with a run in the first inning.  Joe Vondrachek (North St. Paul, Minn.) led off the inning reaching base on an error by shortstop Zach Hudson.  After Vondrachek stole second and Michael Jaquez (Irving, Texas) flew out to left, Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) singled through the left side to score Vondrachek.

Hardin-Simmons answered in the bottom of the inning.  Leadoff batter Hunter Garrison began the inning with a double to right, and then advanced to third on a groundout by Hudson.  Garrett Frazier then walked, and cleanup hitter Jeremy Colon doubled to right center for two RBIs.  Colin Ethridge then doubled, advancing Colon to just third base, Gabe Moore walked and Craig Symmes hit an RBI fielder's choice scoring Colon with Moore put out and second.

In the fourth inning, Dallas evened the score at 3-3.  Ross Lowe (Lewisville, Texas) began the inning with a single to left, and after Michael Anderson (Denver, Colo.) struckout, Womack homered to left field for his first home run this season and second of his career.

Dallas scored the final run of the game in the fifth inning.  With one out in the inning, Vondrachek reach base on an error again, this time by third baseman Ethridge.  Vondrachek reached second base on the error, and then stole third.  Jaquez then reached first base on a fielder's choice as the Hardin-Simmons' defense attempted to cut down Vondrachek at home, but failed to do so.  Vondrachek scored and Dallas took a 4-3 lead, which would be the final score.

Lowe threw out two would be base stealers in the game.  The first was Weston Hickman in the second inning, and the second was pinch runner Cody Harral in the seventh, which effectively curtailed any last inning comeback by the Cowboys.

In game two, the Crusaders woke up their bats early and scored four runs in the first inning.  UD's first four batters got hits as Vondrachek singled, Casey White (Amorita, Okla.) doubled in Vondrachek, Patton doubled in White and Jaquez reached on a bunt single advancing Patton to third.  Anderson then hit an RBI fielder's choice.  After a single by Womack and a passed ball, Anthony Maldonado (Del Rio, Texas) singled to left scoring Anderson and advancing Womack to third.

Dallas put three more runs up in the third to extend the lead to 7-0.  With two on and one out, Womack doubled to left center to drive in Jaquez and send Anderson to third.  After the bases were loaded on a walk, a run scored on a balk by pitcher Chase Buchannan and then another run scored on a wild pitch.

Dallas scored a run in both the fourth and sixth innings, both courtesy of Anderson.  In the fourth with two outs, Anderson doubled to left to score Jaquez for an RBI.  In the sixth with one out and the bases loaded, Anderson hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Vondrachek who had reached base on an error and scored as an unearned run for the third time in the series.

In the seventh inning, UD did not score, but pitcher Tyler Montemayor (Boerne, Texas) pinch hit for Maldonado for his first career plate appearance and walked.  He would later be thrown out at second on a fielder's choice.

In the bottom of the inning, Bennett Beltrano popped out to short, Garrison walked and Hudson struckout.  Zack Corbett also came in to pinch run for Garrison.  Frazier then reached first base on catcher's interference, Colon walked and then Ethridge walked to score Corbett.  After Austin Hilgenberg (Lampasas, Texas) was lifted in reief for Austin Offutt (Frisco, Texas), pinch hitter Joey Quartararo grounded out to end the game.

Vondrachek is now up to 20 stolen bases this season, making him tied for fourth in the NCAA and the seventh man to reach 20 stolen bases this year.

With the wins Dallas improves to 8-17, and with the losses Hardin-Simmons falls to 9-21.
