Montemayor Named on D3Baseball.com Team of the Week
University of Dallas baseball pitcher Tyler Montemayor (Boerne, Texas) received a selection on D3baseball.com Team of the Week for relief pitcher for games played February 17-23.
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its eighth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the second Team of the Week of the 2020 season.
Montemayor received his first career accolade for D3baseball.com Team of the week. His junior teammate Jamie Wallace (Crockett, Texas) earned the recognition twice last season. Montemayor locked down two saves with three clean innings, that included a pair of strikeouts in the team's 4-1 victory to start the Arlington Baptist University series. The series sweep was concluded with a stress-free ninth that Montemayor worked to earn the team's first three-game home sweep since 2018.
Montemayor on the campaign has gone nine innings over four relief appearances. His most recent two at home counted for saves. His earned run average is 2.00.
Dallas' 7-1 start is the best since 2012 when that squad won its first nine games in a row. The team takes on LaGrange College with a three-game set on Feb. 29-March 2.
