Dallas led off the game with back-to-back singles by Jordan Stickler (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Jessup Scott (Lewiston, Idaho). Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) then drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to shallow centerfield, which helped score Stickler. Hardin-Simmons then responded with a four-run frame, including a two-run homerun by Tyler Bradshaw in the bottom half of the first to take the early lead. The Cowboys tacked on a run in the second after Jacob Rains singled up the middle to bring around Weston Hickman.

Stickler led off the Dallas third with a walk. He then swiped second and made it to third on a balk. A wild pitch pushed a run across for Dallas. Unfortunately, the Crusaders would eventually leave the bases loaded to end the inning. Zachary Taylor (Humble, Texas) who came in relief in the third inning shut down the Cowboys in order to head to the fourth inning.

Jaylen Camarillo (Georgetown, Texas) came out of the bullpen in the fourth and shut down the Cowboys in order. UD surrendered a run in the fifth after a walk and two wild pitches brought in a run to make it 6-2.

Josh Abalos (Lewisville, Texas) doubled in the sixth frame, but UD was unable to knock him in. After the UD bats were silenced in the seventh, Bradshaw smacked his second homerun of the game to right centerfield to expand the HSU lead. The Cowboys scored five runs in the eighth to go up by 10 runs and take the non-conference win.

Abalos was the lone Crusader to register two hits and an extra-base hit. He was 2-3 at the plate with a double. Patton had one RBI and one walk. Stickler was 1-3 on the evening with one walk and two runs scored. Tyler Montemayor (Boerne, Texas), Taylor, and Camarillo pitched the first five innings for Dallas. Taylor pitched 1.2 innings giving up just one hit and one walk. Nick Goehring (Phoenix, Ariz.) went one inning surrendering just one hit and one walk. Kyle Neel (San Diego, Calif.) and William Bresnahan (Windham, N.H.) finished out the game for UD.

Bradshaw led HSU with two hits, four RBI, and two homeruns. Rains grabbed three RBI, while two other Cowboys had two RBI. HSU used five pitchers to secure the win.

Stickler notched his 70th career stolen base on the night.
