Crusaders Fall to North Central College on Saturday
CARBONDALE, Ill. - The University of Dallas baseball team fell to North Central College (IL) 8-1 on day two of the NCC-Saluki Tournament. The Crusaders gave up all eight runs in six innings and were unable to get on the scoreboard until the eighth inning. The Cardinals recorded 13 strikeouts on the night and relied on three players to produce the offensive outbreak.

Dallas fell behind early, allowing two runs to the Cardinals. With two outs in the inning, Ryan Scott doubled down the left field line to bring in two baserunners. Conrad Voss (Corona, Calif.) was able to escape any more damage by striking out the next batter. UD had doubles in both the second and third inning but was unable to bring anybody home. The Cardinals notched three more runs in the third inning to build a 5-0 lead.
Luke Boylson (Fairview, Texas) doubled to begin the fourth frame, as UD found another man in scoring position, but squandered the effort once again. NCC kept momentum going by adding two more runs in the fourth and another one later in the sixth. Dallas finally was able to break the shutout in the eighth inning. Michael Jaquez (Irving, Texas) doubled down the right field line to open up the inning. With two outs, Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) walked. Jessup Scott (Lewiston, Idaho) hit a base knock through the right side to bring in Jaquez. NCC would wrap up the game and come out on top in the end.
Dallas had a quartet of batters grab doubles on the day. Patton, Jaquez, Boylson, and Paul Scioli (Lubbock, Texas) all made that mark. Patton was the only player with multiple hits as he had a 2-3 effort at the plate with one walk. Voss pitched six innings allowing six earned runs on nine hits. Voss did record four strikeouts in the effort. Tyler Montemayor Boerne, Texas) finished out the final two innings for Dallas allowing only one hit and striking out two batters.
UD stranded seven men on base.
Three players drove in seven runs for the Cardinals. Matt Sutherland, Jeremy Quade, and Scott all led the NCC offense. Polezoes went six innings, gave up five hits, and struck out six men. Two more pitchers helped lead NCC to victory.
Rain in the area forced the teams to push their game back three hours from the originally scheduled first pitch.
