Baseball Unveils 2019 Schedule
IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball team has unveiled its 2019 schedule. The spring slate features 40 games that include 20 games at the friendly confines. UD will have 18 contests against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) teams.
Opening day is February 2nd home versus Sul Ross State University, and will mark the sixth straight year these programs have faced each other to start the season. Dallas will play Lobos for a three-game series to open up the campaign.
Dallas will continue February with a trip to University of the Ozarks (AR) for a double-header on the 9th followed with the series finale on the 10th. UD will be back at home to face LeTourneau University for a three-game series Feb. 16-17. The Crusaders finish off the 12-game month with an appearance in the NCC-Saluki Tournament hosted at Southern Illinois University February 22-24. Dallas will play Blackburn College (IL) North Central (IL), and finish up with Wilmington (OH).
March will begin with a home and away series with Dallas Christian College. The teams will play a single game at DCC on the first day of the month. The next day both squads will play a double-header at UD. On March 11th, the Crusaders will play one game at Hardin-Simmons University. Dallas will then have a five-game home stand as they host Trinity University for three games Mar. 16-17 for the first conference match-up for 2019. UD will continue the home stretch with a midweek double-header with Howard Payne University on the 19th.
At the end of March, Dallas travels to Centenary College for a double-header on Mar. 23rd followed up with a single game on the 24th. UD will then host the 2018 SCAC champions Texas Lutheran University for three games March 30th-31st.
Dallas opens up April with a trip to non-conference opponent Thomas More University (KY). UD will play a double-header on Apr. 6th with the series finale the next day. The Crusaders will then play nine straight conference games to end the season. UD will travel to Schreiner University for three games Apr. 13th-14th. The final home-series of 2019 will be against Southwestern University. UD will play a double-header on the 19th followed up with the series finale on Apr. 20th for Senior Day. The regular season series finale will include three games at Austin College (Apr. 27-28).
The 2019 SCAC Tournament will be held at Cleburne Railroaders Stadium in Cleburne, Texas May 3rd-5th. The SCAC takes the top four finishes in the league standings.
Head Coach Erik Grafton begins his first year at the helm. Last year, Dallas went 12-26 overall and 2-16 in the league.
