WICHITA, Kan. – Nicolas Hovde (Waco, Texas) was selected by the Waco Missions to play in the NBC World Series that hosted the first week of games from July 27-31. Hovde, wearing number 1, started in right field in his only appearance last Saturday and went 0-for-3 in a 4-0 setback for the Missions. Hovde’s team came back to win 7-5 on Monday over the Great Bend Cats out of Kansas.

WICHITA, Kan. – Nicolas Hovde (Waco, Texas) of the University of Dallas baseball team was selected by the Waco Missions to play in the 85th National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series. The Missions earned a bid to the NBC World Series by winning the Brazos Baseball Association League Championship. The Missions are in Pool D with Hays Larks and Great Bend Bat Cats. They are scheduled to play Hays Larks on Saturday, July 27, at 3:30 p.m. in the second game of the day.

IRVING, Texas – Summer ball is wrapping up for several members of the University of Dallas baseball team, who had 14 players involved with a summer team. While some players are finished with their seasons, others are continuing or joining another team to continue play the remaining weeks before the new 2019-20 academic year begins in about a month.

IRVING, Texas – Former University of Dallas Hall of Fame Coach Al Ogletree passed away early Monday, June 24. The legendary UD coach played a prominent role at Dallas, helping start intercollegiate athletics at the university, while coaching the baseball and basketball teams from 1957-65. He was the head basketball coach for three seasons ('57-'60), and the head baseball coach all nine seasons during his tenure at Dallas.

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas athletics department celebrated its sixth annual end of the year banquet on Sunday, May 5, at the Hagger University Center. Each coach from the 15 NCAA affiliated programs took a moment to speak on behalf of their program, as well as recognize those that received postseason achievements highlighted by each team’s Most Valuable Player (Listed at bottom).

CLEBURNE, Texas – On Saturday the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its 2019 All-Conference Baseball Teams and major postseason awards. The University of Dallas baseball team had seven players – the second highest behind the eight total in 2013 – earn laurels. Among the septet were two members, Jordan Stickler (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas), that notched an all-conference honor for the third straight year.

SHERMAN, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball team secured its first series win since 2017 after holding off Austin College 14-9 on Sunday afternoon. Josh Abalos (Lewisville, Texas) and Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) both combined for six RBI on the day, as the team notched 11 total for the day. Dallas grabbed the early lead, but Austin pulled within one run in the sixth frame after a three-run homerun. UD used a five-run eighth to expand its lead and secure the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) victory.

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball team split its doubleheader with Austin College on Saturday. Dallas took game one 14-6 after the team notched 12 RBI off of 13 hits. Conrad Voss (Corona, Calif.) picked up his conference-leading eighth win in the game, which is the most wins for a UD pitcher in a single season since 2012. Game Two involved an offensive showdown for both sides. 20 combined runs were scored in the first three innings, while just three runs were scored the rest of the way. The ‘Roos eventually came away with the 12-11 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) victory in walk-off fashion.
