Joseph Vondrachek (North St. Paul, Minn.) drove in the other run for the visitors with a single to left field. Luke Boylson (Fairview, Texas) scored on the play.

Vondrachek finished the game 2-for-2 to add to his strong series. The freshman shortstop now has hit safely in five straight games, with three being two-hit results.

TLU was able to tie the game with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Chad Curtis singled home Matthew Lemon on a ball to right. Riley Schaefer lifted a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-2 ballgame.

The Crusaders pitching worked around 14 hits that the Bulldogs offense posted, but four of them – three for extra bases – broke the tie in the seventh. With one out, Tyler Cauley doubled to right center. He was the go-ahead run as Lemon tripled to right. Eric Rabinowitz doubled and Cameron Wilson singled to give the Bulldogs a 5-2 advantage.

Cauley singled home Schaefer for an insurance run in the eighth and completed the scoring on both sides.

Six hits were all the Crusaders mustered, with only two coming after they had scored their final run. In addition to Vondrachek's perfect day at the plate, Boylson also contributed a multi-hit showing, and stole a base. Zachary Taylor (Humble, Texas) added the other base knock.

Tyler Montemayor (Boerne, Texas) and Abraham Griesbauer (Troy, Mo.) combined for eight innings on the mound for UD. Montemayor threw 4.2 innings on the hill, and allowed two runs (1 earned) on seven hits. He walked three and struck out four. Griesbauer was saddled with the loss, as he gave up four runs (3 earned) on seven hits. He did not walk anymore and struck out one.

Cauley led the Bulldogs with a 4-for-5 and Lemon was 3-for-5. Schaefer completed the trio of multi-hit performances with a 2-for-4. All three of the batters drove in one and scored at least one time.

Clint Johns shook off the early runs allowed and worked into a groove for the third quality start by TLU pitching this series. He went 7.2 innings, gave up all six hits and struck out three while walking none.

Zach Perry entered when it was a three-run contest in the eighth, and was able to grab the last four outs for the save.
