Millsaps comes back on Baseball to Earn Two-Game Sweep
JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Dallas baseball team wrapped up its road weekend at Millsaps College on Saturday. The suspended game was concluded with the Majors winning 12-2. They scored three more runs in the home eighth. Six errors were costly for UD, as eight unearned runs aided the home score. Zachary Taylor (Humble, Texas) totaled three hits in his first at bats with the first home run on the year. He compiled half the team's total knocks.
In the next contest, the Crusaders charged out to an 8-1 run advantage through the first four innings. Millsaps responded by scoring 10 unanswered runs, headlined by a grand slam that was part of a five-run sixth to secure an 11-8 final.

Mark Peterson (Cincinnati, Ohio) singled to left field to plate Jordan Stickler (Grand Rapids, Mich.) in the first inning for an early lead. Stickler walked to lead off the game and extend his on-base streak to 41.
After the Majors knotted the score in the home half, Dallas pushed out to a seven-run lead with a pair of three-run innings in the second and third. Joseph Vondrachek (North St. Paul, Minn.) doubled and Stickler reached on an infield single for the team's only hits in the second. A fielder's choice, hit by pitch, and then hustle play by Stickler to cross home before Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) was tagged out in a run-down is how the guests scored.
Luke Boylson (Fairview, Texas) and Paul Scioli (Lubbock, Texas) ripped consecutive one-out doubles in the third. Vondrachek – who joined Scioli as the leaders on the team with two hits apiece – singled in the catcher for the second run. Vigil produced his second RBI in the game with a sacrifice fly to right.
After Dallas scratched out another run, the home team began chipping away. Millsaps scored once in the fourth and fifth. Two strikeouts started the sixth, but then things unraveled for the Crusaders. A hit by pitch, single up the middle, and walk set the table for Brennan Ducote to lift a grand slam over the right field wall. That made it a one-run game, but then three of the next four batters walked, including the game-tying run. Christian Cooper struck out looking a second time in the inning, but eight batters had come up before Nick Goehring (Phoenix, Ariz.) ended the threat.
Three runs in the seventh put the Majors up for good. Two batters reached via a walk and hit by pitch to start things. Abraham Griesbauer (Troy, Mo.) relieved for Austin Anderson (Waxahachie, Texas), who got saddled with the loss, and allowed a blooper to left field by Andy Page for the go-ahead RBI. An infield single and double steal of second and home were the other insurance runs.
The team's matched their run and hit totals with 11 and eight apiece. The Crusaders did not commit an error in this game, while MC made one in the second inning. Michael Ilardi (Atascocita, Texas) recorded the other hit not mentioned above for UD. Vondrachek (2), Stickler, and Abalos combined for Dallas' four stolen bases.
Jamie Wallace (Crockett, Texas) threw 4.2 innings in the start. He scattered six hits and allowed three runs on two walks to go with four strikeouts. Five pitchers combined for seven strikeouts and walks.
Ducote was a triple shy of the cycle on his 3-for-5 game. Wes Lassere and Chase Callaway notched the other multiple hit games with a 2-for-4 each. Connor Woodall and Callaway added doubles to round out the extra base hits. The Majors combined for six stolen bases, with Ducote and Lassere with two apiece.
Four arms took the mound for Millsaps, and Conner Haynes was able to keep UD in check for six shutout innings. He only yielded two hits and a walk while striking out four.

Dallas has a scheduled weekend off before opening a stretch of 10-of-13 games in the home confines through March. A three-game non-conference series with Blackburn College kicks things off on March 11th at 12 p.m.
