HOW IT HAPPENED

Unlike Saturday, the Gents did not rely on a huge inning to pull away in this one. Regardless, the advantage ballooned as a couple runs throughout the game extended the margin beyond reach for Dallas.

A run in the second broke the scoreless game for the home squad. The Crusaders had escaped the first with bases loaded to keep it 0-0, but then Cole Lavergne singled to left field to start the bottom of the second. He advanced on consecutive wild pitches before Andrew Russell walked. Cameron Guin drove Lavergne in on a bunt single to the pitcher.

In the third, Dallas placed more than a runner on base for the first time in the contest. Stickler drew a two-out walk and stole second. He sneaked over to take third as Hanson walked, but a foul out to first ended the frame. When it was Centenary's turn, Schimpf scored on a Chris Zapata triple to right field. He scored when the next hitter, Graham, grounded out to short.

The Gents doubled the lead in the fifth to make it 6-0. After scoring twice already, Russell punched an RBI-double for the third straight batter to earn a ribbie and complete the scoring that inning. Two more runs in the eighth rounded out the final result.
