HOW IT HAPPENED

Both teams got on the scoreboard during its first trips to bat. Stickler bunted for a single to first base with one out. Hanson followed with a double to left field and scored Stickler all the way from first to give the Crusaders the edge.

It was the lone one for the road squad, as the conference leader in runs scored (260) responded with a five-spot in the next half of the inning. The first trio of hitters for the Gents reached and Schimpf lifted a sacrifice fly to knot the game back even. Aaron Quintanilla scored next as Crowder stole second and the lead runner broke after the throw down. Chris Zapata walked and then Crowder and Zapata pulled a double steal to set up a two-RBI single to right by Graham. A sacrifice bunt back to the pitcher got in the fifth and final run of that game-deciding inning.

In the third, Dallas got another run with the same two players involved. This time Stickler walked with two outs and stole second. Hanson continued to build his team lead in runs driven in with a single to left.

The Gents got that run back in the next half of the inning.

The final run of the contest occurred three innings later as another two-out rally got started this time on a single by Patton to center field. Cell came through with a single to left next and then Patton moved within 90 feet of scoring on a wild pitch. San Roman delivered a single to left field, but the Crusaders only mustered one left on in the remaining three turns to bat after stranding runners on the corners in the sixth.

Hunter Amedee contained the final three innings with a hit and walk happening but otherwise no runs in the save. He added two strikeouts.
