FIRST PITCH

The University of Dallas baseball team travels to East Texas Baptist University on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Game one is scheduled for seven innings, while the second one will be nine. Dallas will be concluding an eight-game trip away from the home confines.

Sitting 4-5 overall, the Crusaders have dropped three straight after falling to different opponents at the Millsaps Tournament. Dallas was topped by Rhodes College (2-0), Piedmont College (14-4), and LaGrange College (8-3), respectively.

UD NOTES

- Seth Hanson (Apache Junction, Ariz.) headlines the offense with nine hits and three doubles to lead the squad in both. The sophomore has reached base safely in all eight contests he has played.

- JP Fasone (Engelwood, Colo.) and Luke Boylson (Fairview, Texas) round out the top three batters in hits with eight and six, respectively.

- Fasone started the year reaching base in six consecutive and had a five-game hitting streak during that span. Last weekend he picked up a multi-high game with a pair of knocks and runs scored.

- Boylson heated up in Jackson, Mississippi, combining for 5-of-10 with two doubles and his first collegiate RBI.

- In the most recent contest, Mark Peterson (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Paul Scioli (Lubbock, Texas) swung the lumber with a home run each. Dallas now has three round-trippers with the other coming on opening day.

- On the bump, Ryan Hammonds (Cedar Hill, Texas) has been excellent through three starts. In 21 innings (7 each start), the right-hander has limited opponents to four runs and a .178 opponent batting average. He has punched out a team-high 19 batters.

- Kyle Gamez (Burleson, Texas) and William Marshall (Frisco, Texas) each have been strong out of the pen with earned run averages south of 3.00. The duo have spun a 1.80 and 2.70, respectively.

- Conrad Voss (Corona, Calif.) ties Hammonds in starts and has posted a 3.45 ERA while throwing 15.2 innings. He is the only other pitcher to reach double-digits on innings thrown so far.

- The UD staff has struck out 75 batters while only walking 17.

- East Texas Baptist is a member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) and will be the 4th school the Crusaders face this month from there. UD is 3-2 against such opponents so far.

- The Tigers are coming off a successful conference-opening weekend at LeTourneau University where they prevailed with a sweep. The most recent was 8-6 victory.

- A trio of hitters have cracked double-digits for ETBU led by Connor Combs (14). Jaxon Rader and Landen Barns round out the group at 13 and 10, respectively.

- The squad is batting .287 and has spread the extra base hits with 16 doubles and 12 home runs. 10 different Tigers have recorded at least a double with none having more than two. Combs has blasted three long balls, while Zach Gartner, Barns, and Zach Compton all have a pair.
