IRVING, Texas – Playing at Crusader Field for the first time in March, the University of Dallas baseball team greeted the home crowd with its largest winning margin on the season over Austin College on Friday. The Crusaders were aggressive early and tallied a three-run first inning to swing the momentum and never let it tether back to Austin College in the first home SCAC series this spring. Three straight UD hitters recorded singles to start the game, with freshman Thomas Martin (Vancouver, Wash.) knocking in classmate Josh Abalos (Lewisville, Texas) on a single to right.

The hit extended Martin's hitting streak to a career-long seven games. Abalos has a four-game streak right now. Three of those contest have been multi-hit performances.

Cleanup hitter, junior Zach San Roman (Miami, Fl.) reached on an error by the 'Roos' third baseman and classmate JP Fasone (Englewood, Colo.) came in to score. Senior Luciano Villanueva (San Antonio, Texas) lifted a sacrifice fly to drive in Martin.

Dallas added pressure in the middle of the ballgame, scoring at least once in the third through sixth frames. This included a pair of runs in the fourth and sixth. Villanueva and Abalos each hit RBI-singles in the third and fourth inning, respectively. Freshman Jake McCoy (Fort Worth, Texas), who got the start at designated hitter, lifted a sacrifice fly in the fifth for his first collegiate run batted in.

San Roman completed the eruption with his second two-run homer in the past three days that cleared left field and opened UD's largest edge of 9-0. It was also the biggest lead for the Crusaders on the season at any point of a contest.
