UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS ATHLETICS

Crusaders Drop Fourth Straight to Sul Ross State

On a day when pitching was at a premium, the University of Dallas baseball team came up short, 13-12. The Crusaders raced out to a 9-0 lead after two and a half innings; however the pitching faltered giving up ten runs in the next two frames. In the end, it was errors that doomed the Crusaders again, as they gave up five unearned runs. Dallas made a late rally but came up one run short in the seventh inning. Leading the way at the plate for UD were freshman outfielder Adam Farris (Flower Mound, TX/Liberty Christian H.S.), junior David Rettinger (San Antonio, TX/Central Catholic H.S.), and junior infielder Martin Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque Academy), all of whom had three hits and two RBI.  Also contributing RBI were senior infielder Sean McSheffery (Woodridge, IL/Downers Grove North H.S.), freshman infielder Trevor Allred (Anchorage, AK/South Anchorage H.S.), and sophomore catcher Varea Costello (Anchorage, AK/South Anchorage H.S.).

UD will match up with Sul Ross State for one more game on Sunday. The next home game will be February 19th against Howard Payne University at 2:00pm.
