Crusaders help at Unite For Troops on Veterans Day

IRVING, Texas – On Saturday a couple of student-athletes from the University of Dallas volunteered at Unite for the Troops. The organization had a collection drive in the local city. Will McEvoy, Grace Conti, Peter Early, and Christian Lopez were on site that morning. McEvoy and Conti are throwers on the UD track and field team. Early and Lopez each are part of the UD men’s lacrosse team.

Other athletic programs at Dallas contributed donations for the cause as well. Special thanks to men's lacrosse head coach Sam Ashton for coordinating the news of the event to the department.

Unite for Troops/Veteran’s Day Celebration is an annual one day event where we invite our community, both in person and on line, to join us in support of our Armed Military Forces past and present. This free event is filled with music, food, kids activities and more. Our purpose is to help our deployed Troops through donations of much needed comfort items and letters, then ship them to the USO’s in Afghanistan. They are then distributed to a hospital, wounded care center and our troops on the front lines. We also honor our Veterans and their families on that day for the great sacrifice they have made for our Freedom.
