Five UD Coaches Attend Inaugural Women in Athletics Leadership Symposium
DALLAS – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) hosted its inaugural Women in Athletics Leadership Symposium, June 26-27, in Dallas, Texas, at the Embassy Suites – Love Field.
The University of Dallas had five members from its coaching staff in attendance that included: Kelli Trautmann (volleyball), Lexi Stinson (women’s soccer), Destinee Johnson (women’s lacrosse), Caitlynn Dykes (softball), and Bri Calver (women’s basketball).
The event is designed to provide professional development opportunites to prepare female administrators, coaches and student-athletes to be better prepared to administer in today's challenging environment.
The SCAC Women in Athletics Leadership Symposium – the first event of its kind in conference history – is being funded in part by the NCAA Division III Strategic Initiatives Grant Program.
There were six facilitators at the event, including Nicole LaVoi who is the Director of the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport (Dallas Receives High Ranking). Linda Schirmiester-Gess and Raven Scott were also present to speak from Strive Leadership. A couple SCAC institutions had administrators to round out the Facilitating panel with Colorado College’s Vice President and Director of Athletics, Lesley Irving, and Senior Women Administrator, Anne Goodman James, and Southwestern University’s Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Glada Munt.
