UD Basketball Student-Athletes Named to SCAC Winter Academic Honor Roll

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll today for the 2017-18 winter term and 226 student-athletes made the list.

The University of Dallas placed eight members that are part of either the men's or women's basketball programs. Five of the players were on the men's side, while the remaining trio that included United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic winner, Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.); represented the women's team.

Other players that qualified for women's basketball were senior teammate Helen Onyenso (Oak Park, Ill.) and Francesca Weisbruch (Temple, Texas). DeCoud is a previous two-time recipient, while Onyenso earned the recognition for the second time in her career.

Headlining the quintet of men's basketball players was another USCAA National All-Academic Team selection Solomon Berezin (League City, Texas). Logan Fruhwirth (Waynesville, Ohio), Isaiah Hayes (Arlington, Texas), Joshua Nunn (St. Louis, Mo.), and Michael Wambsganss (Denver, Colo.) rounded out the group.

All three returners have been named each year with UD. This includes a fourth time for Berezin.

Since its inception in the fall of 1997, just over 26,000 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom.

To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
