UD Hall of Fame Feature: Monsignor Milam Joseph

Monsignor Milam Joseph was the President of the University of Dallas from October 1997 through December 2003. During that time Monsignor brought a sense of vitality and renewed energy to the University of Dallas. He directed his attention and resources to improving areas of student life including the athletics program. Under his leadership the University of Dallas completed the requirements for membership in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and increased sponsorship of athletics programs from 10 sports to 15 while increasing the number of student athletes from 102 to over 200. At the same time university teams were experiencing unprecedented success on the playing fields and courts. Baseball, men's basketball and women's soccer all were nationally ranked during this time with baseball reaching a high of 3rd in the nation. Women's soccer was the first University team to be selected for participation in NCAA postseason play. During this time baseball and softball fields were built and soccer and intramural/club sports fields were upgraded. In addition the Maher Center was renovated to include a state of the art aerobics and workout area and new locker rooms and office space were added.
