Trio selected for 2015 Dallas Hall of Fame

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas is pleased to announce the following as 2015 inductees into its Athletics Hall of Fame: Tom Fogerty (’09), Angela Cuba (’10), and Blake Guyton (’04). The trio join a group of 61 previous members to earn the honor since the inaugural class inducted in 1998.

Fogerty was a baseball player at the University of Dallas from 2006 through 2009 and he had a remarkable career. Altogether Fogerty batted a .383 average, with 201 hits, 40 doubles. 14 triples, 18 home runs, 153 runs scored, 119 runs batted in, and 39 stolen bases. In 60 years of baseball at the University, he is the only player to be recognized in the top ten career list of every offensive category! Further, he holds school records for runs in a game with 5, hits in a season with 65, and triples in a season with nine. The shortstop also notched the most triples in a career at 15 for the program. Fogerty also spent time on the mound as a closer and is third on the career list with five saves. In 2008, he was recognized as team MVP, All-West Region, and a first team selection in the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I).

In 2008, Cuba led the University of Dallas women’s Cross Country team to the championship of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) with a second place finish in the conference meet with a school record time (18:40) for 5,000 Meters. This championship was the first conference championship for the school in the modern era of athletics at the university. As a cross country runner, she won four meets in her career, which spanned a school-record 27 events. In track, she added three more victories and is the holder of the school record at 3000 Meters (10:55.41 minutes). Cuba amassed many postseason accolades including: 2006 AD3I Women's Cross Country Second Team, 2008 AD3I Women's Cross Country First Team, CoSIDA Women's Cross Country First Team All-Academic All-District, 2008 NEAC Women's Cross Country First Team, 2009 AD3I Women's Cross Country Second Team, and NEAC Women's Cross Country First Team. 

Guyton was a member of the men’s basketball team during one of the most historic stretches in program. The Men’s Basketball Seasons from 2000-01 through 2003-04 represent the most successful four-year run in UD history with two seasons, 2000-01 and 2002-03 with school record 18 wins, a win percentage of 62.1 and the school’s only appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament in 2003-04; as well as a runner-up finish in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) tournament in 2001-02. Guyton was a point guard on those four squads. He is a member of the 1000 point club with a career total of 1,081 points for a 10.1 career average and stands in the top 10 for career games played, three-point field goals, assists, assists per game, steals and steals per game. His accomplishments earned him All-American recognition from the USCAA in 2002 and 2004.

The luncheon will be held in the Rathskeller dining area located on UD’s campus on Nov. 1, 2015.
