Former Women's Soccer and Lacrosse coach, Andrea Cofrin, hired as Assistant for Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Andrea Cofrin has joined the as an assistant coach of the Yale University women’s lacrosse team. The former University of Dallas women’s soccer and lacrosse coach adds another stop on her lengthy coaching career, and has a successful track record.

Cofrin brings nine years of head coaching experience to her new role -- including one year at Saint Anselm, five years at Siena, two years at Lees-McRae College and one year at the University of Dallas. She has also served as an assistant coach for one year at Siena and one year at Oneonta State, and she spent more than three years as co-director and co-owner of the travel program ADK Lacrosse.

Last year Cofrin led Saint Anselm to a 13-4 record, the best in program history. The Hawks were ranked No. 9 in Division II, their first top 10 appearance. The team had one All-American, two first team NE-10 honorees, the Saint Anselm Female Athlete of the Year and an inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honor Society.

While at Dallas, the 2005 women’s soccer head coach guided the program to a 13-3 record, two victories shy of the season record in 2001. Cofrin’s tenure resulted in the highest winning percentage at .812 in team history.

In addition, Cofrin served as the senior women’s administrator, and was the third head coach in history for the women’s lacrosse team. Her squad went 4-9 in its third season with the native of Liverpool, New York, at the helm.

Cofrin will be residing in Hamden, Conn., with her husband, Shawn, and eight-month old daughter Rhiannon.
