Hall of Fame Spotlight: Tom Hansell

Hall of Fame Spotlight: Tom Hansell

INDUCTED NOVEMBER 2012

Tom Hansell was a soccer star at the University of Dallas from 1977 to 1980 and set scoring records that could have been greater had statistics from his era been kept more meticulously. As it is he stands tied 12th on the all-time goal scoring list with 18 and tied for 15th in points with 42 (T-14th when inducted). He was first on both lists until 1996.  Hansell had a four goal game against West Texas State in 1979 that was the school record until 2001. He had six multiple goal games and scored three in the first postseason appearance for soccer in the NAIA District tournament in 1980 in a win over Dallas Baptist. He was also a member of the first men's soccer team with a winning record in 1979.
