Hall of Fame Spotlight: Rufe Brewton

INDUCTED FEBRUARY 2003

When the University of Dallas reopened in the 1950's Rufe Brewton was a member of the first baseball and basketball teams to represent the university playing for the legendary Coach Al Ogletree. He played both sports from 1957 to 1959 and participated in the first victories experienced by both squads. His career batting average of .356 ranks fifth best in school history. In 1958 he led the team in hits, doubles and triples and in 1959 led the team in hits, batting average, stolen bases and runs batted in and tied for the lead in home runs.
