Hall of Fame Spotlight: Jack Nichols

Jack Nichols was a pioneer in athletics at the University of Dallas when it reopened in the late 1950's as a member of the baseball teams of 1958, 1960, and 1961 and basketball teams of 1957-58 and 1959-60. He was captain of the baseball team in 1960 and 1961 and finished his career with a batting average of .343. In 1958 he led the team in triples and runs batted in. In 1960 he led the team in doubles and runs batted in and in 1961 he led the team again in doubles and runs batted in as well as home runs. He also took to the mound in 1961 to pitch a three-hitter against East Central and finish with a perfect 2-0 record for the season. In basketball he scored 141 points over two seasons.
