Jarred Samples ('01) was promoted to Director of Athletics for the University of Dallas on July 2, 2021 following the retirement of Dick Strockbine, having served as the Assistant Athletic Director to Strockbine since 2012.

While serving as Assistant Athletic Director, Samples completed his 13th season as University of Dallas men's basketball head coach, which is second longest among active UD coaches in the department and is longest all-time for men’s basketball. He became the winningest coach for the program on December 29, 2018, in a 90-84 final at Colorado College, while his team also set an individual game record with 15 three-pointers.  He would finish his career with 137 wins following the 2020-21 season.

Prior to his time at UD, Samples spent two seasons (2006-08) as men's basketball assistant coach at the University of Chicago.  The Maroons won back-to-back University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships and appeared in the NCAA Tournament, while Samples and the rest of the coaching staff was named UAA Coaching Staff of the Year for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. 

He was also men's basketball assistant coach for five seasons (2001-06) at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.  The Pirates were 2004-05 SCAC Men's Basketball regular-season Co-Champions (11-3), had the SCAC Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Year, three All-SCAC Men's Basketball First Team honorees and the university's first National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III All-American. 

A four-year letterwinner in basketball and golf at the University of Dallas, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History.

He resides in Carrollton, Texas, with wife Sarah, daughter Addison and son Max.
